Installation Guidelines

To achieve the best performance and weatherproofing, take note of these guidelines:

  • Lapping: Require a minimum of one full corrugation for side laps. For roof pitches under 10 degrees, apply butyl sealant tape and extend end laps to a minimum of 200 mm.
  • Fastening: For roofing applications, always drive fasteners through the crowns (the high points) using EPDM sealing washers. Fastening through the valleys allows pooling rainwater to seep through the screw holes. (Note: Valley fastening is only acceptable for vertical wall cladding).
  • Prep: If your order was specified with a protective peel-off PE film, remove it immediately during installation. Leaving the film exposed to the sun will bake the adhesive onto the panel.

Note: Please consult with your project’s structural engineer to determine exact purlin spacing and fastening patterns required for your local wind and snow loads.

Compatible Accessories

BOMIS can offer matched brown flashing, ridge caps, valley gutters, and closure strips in the same RAL color and paint system, as well. While they do serve as an option, most customers incorporate these elements to create a seamless look across the project. Q: What MOQ applies and how does pricing scale?

A: The standard minimum order quantity is 10 tonnes per color and per thickness. Price breaks are available at 25, 50, and 100 tonnes. For trial orders which are under the minimum order quantity of 10 tonnes, the availability of stock is uncertain. Our sales desk can check the inventory for the most recent production runs.

Q: Do you offer custom color matching?

A: Of course. We have 12 shades of RAL 8000 Series in stock. For orders of 25 tonnes or more, we will match other colors. This step will add an approximate 7-10 business days to production for us to create a sample and wait for the final approval. For the best color match, we will need a sample or RAL code. Please reach out to our sales team through sales@bomis.com for a custom color match and to request a lab sample.

Q: Which paint system is recommended for a coastal project?

A: We recommend a minimum of 25-micron dry film thickness of PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) topcoat on galvalume substrate for projects within 500 metres of salt water. PVDF systems are more resistant to salt spray and UV induced chalking and color fading than PE or SMP. Typically, for inland use, 20 micron of HDP (high-durability polyester) is adequate.

Q: What documentation do you provide with each shipment?

A: Mill test certificates (MTC) included with every order provide the substrate’s chemical composition and mechanical properties. Each order also includes a coating thickness report and a packing list with bundle tags. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, Intertek) can be arranged on buyer’s account. We recommend this for first orders to gain confidence in the supply chain.

Q: How are the sheets protected during ocean freight?

Sheets are layered with PE film, wrapped with edge protectors and placed in wooden crates or on steel pallets according to the handling infrastructure of the destination port. For destinations with high humidity during transit, VCI paper is placed in the bundle. It is common practice to share container loading photos prior to dispatch.
