Galvanized Steel Coil – DX54D Deep Drawing Grade

DX54D galvanized steel coil to EN 10346, material no. 1.0952 — special deep drawing grade for hard draws.

  • Elongation A80 ≥36%, r90 ≥1.6, n90 ≥0.18
  • Thickness 0.20–5.0 mm, width 600–1500 mm
  • Zinc coating Z30–Z275 g/m², spangle to your choice
  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 on request

For automotive and appliance stampings and as a substrate for pre-painted coil. MOQ 16 MT.

DX54D is the special deep drawing grade of the EN 10346 hot-dip galvanised family. Where DX53D starts to strain, DX54D still forms: 36% minimum elongation at A80 and an r90 of 1.6 let it take a harder draw without the zinc cracking. BOMIS supplies it as coil or cut sheet, Z30 to Z275, 0.20 to 5.0 mm thick.

Features

The molybdenum-free, titanium-stabilised chemistry keeps DX54D non-ageing, so the forming properties you qualify today are still there six months later. Yield strength sits in a 120 to 220 MPa window against a 260 to 350 MPa tensile range, and that low yield-to-tensile spread is what buys the draw depth.

Anisotropy is where DX54D separates from DX53D. The r90 value of 1.6 minimum means the coil resists thinning in the wall of a drawn cup, so wall thickness stays even instead of thinning at the punch radius. Add an n90 of 0.18 and the grade stretches into shape rather than tearing.

The zinc coating is lead-free and densely bonded, and it holds through the deformation instead of flaking at the bend. That is what makes DX54D usable as a substrate for high-end pre-painted coil.

Applications

DX54D earns its cost anywhere the part has to survive a hard draw and then live outdoors. Appliance, automotive and building panels all use it, and the Z coating range covers roughly ten to fifty years of service depending on how aggressive the site is. If your part needs three forming passes, this is the grade that finishes them in one.

  • Washing machine drums and refrigerator liners
  • Automotive fuel tanks and oil pans
  • HVAC ductwork and complex roof flashing
  • Electrical distribution cabinets
  • Pre-painted coil substrate (PPGI)

Processing

Continuous hot-dip galvanising runs on our own lines. Thickness holds from 0.20 to 5.0 mm and width from 600 to 1500 mm, slit or cut to your press line. Zinc weight is controlled to a few grams per square meter, which matters when you are chasing a corrosion target rather than a price. Lead time runs four to six weeks for standard specifications.

Packaging

Every coil ships with its mill certificate and edge protection on both ends. The standard sea packing is waterproof kraft paper, a galvanised steel jacket and steel strapping, which holds through a forty day crossing without edge rust. Eye to the sky or eye to the wall, your call.

FAQ

Is DX54D the same as SGCD3?

Near equivalent, not interchangeable. The standards describe the grade differently, and they differ in both directions.

Forming class Special deep drawing (DX5xD family) Drawing quality, class 3 of SGCD1–SGCD4

Substitution note: a substitution is only valid if it is checked item by item against the project technical agreement and confirmed in writing before order confirmation.

Can you supply DX51D instead? It’s cheaper.

Yes, and it is cheaper. DX51D is a general forming grade — elongation falls from 36% to 22%, and its higher strength raises the load the part will take. The written substitution risk confirmation we issue lists both directions before order confirmation.

Can you provide MTC?

Yes. Which document and to which standard must be settled first. We confirm the type with production before committing.

What sizes and coating weights can you supply?

Z30 through Z275, 0.20 to 5.0 mm thick, 600 to 1500 mm wide.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

16 metric tons per specification, four to six weeks for standard specifications.

Do you slit and cut to length?

Both, in house — slit to press width, cut to sheet size.
