Introduction

Thin gauge Galvalume coil runs from 0.14 mm to 0.8 mm with a 55% aluminium-zinc coating, and BOMIS slits it down to 20 mm for buyers who cannot use a full-width coil. It is quoted to ASTM A792 or EN 10346, with the mill certificate on every coil.

Makala

Thin gauge is where ordinary galvanized coil starts to fail. At 0.2 mm the zinc layer is a large share of the section, so it cracks at a tight bend and the part loses its corrosion barrier exactly where it is formed. The aluminium-zinc coating on this grade stretches with the steel instead, and the T-bend holds at 2T without flaking.

Slitting to 20 mm is the other half of the offer. Narrow strip is usually bought from a service centre at a markup and with a few weeks added to the lead time, because a full-width coil has to be re-slit before it can be used. We slit in house, so the width arrives as ordered and the recoil tension is set for thin gauge rather than for heavy coil.

Maombi

Narrow thin strip turns up wherever a part is small, light and exposed at the same time, which is why the same coil serves shielding, roofing and vehicle work. Most buyers arrive with a formed part in mind. Ask for the bend radius first, because it sets the grade and the coating mass together, and it decides whether the edge cracks.

  • Electronic shielding and equipment enclosures
  • Lightweight roofing, wall panels and ducting
  • Automotive and appliance components
  • Heat shields and energy-efficient building envelopes
  • Cable trays and narrow cold-formed sections

Uchakataji

Coils run on our own galvanising line and are then slit in house to the width your press needs. Coating weight, thickness tolerance and slit width are all fixed before the coil is wound, so the certificate matches what is actually on the coil. Slit coils are rewound to your coil weight rather than to ours. Lead time runs about three weeks for standard specifications.

Ufungashaji

Coils ship with the mill certificate and edge protectors on both ends. Narrow slit coil is wound on a heavier core and banded in pairs so it cannot telescope in transit. Standard sea packing is waterproof kraft paper under a galvanised steel jacket.

Maswali Yanayoulizwa Mara kwa Mara

What is the thinnest gauge you can supply?

0.14 mm. Below that, the coating is a large share of the section and forming gets unreliable, so we would quote a different grade instead.

Can you slit to a width under 100 mm?

Yes, down to 20 mm. Tell us the finished width and the press feed, since very narrow coil needs a heavier core to stay stable on the decoiler.

Which coating mass suits thin gauge?

AZ50 to AZ100 covers most indoor and sheltered work. Go to AZ150 outdoors, and remember that heavier coatings form less easily at this thickness.

Is the coating safe for welding?

Zinc boils at a low temperature, so welding runs to a schedule set for coated steel. Dry passivation is the usual choice where the part is welded after forming.

Do you supply MTC with each coil?

Yes. Every coil leaves with its mill test certificate, and we confirm which document you need first.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

16 metric tons per specification, and about three weeks for standard specifications.
