PPGL roofing panels are pre-fabricated roofing panels made of the base material of Galvalume Steel Coils. The surface is coated with an organic paint and then pressed into a Corrugated Roof Sheet or a Trapezoidal Roof Sheet. They have better corrosion resistance than conventional galvanised sheets, are cheaper than stainless steel or aluminium sheets, and are often used in the construction of factories and agricultural facilities in South America and South-east Asia.

Core competencies

The main difference between PPGL and PPGI (Prepainted Galvanised Steel) is the substrate. PPGI is made from galvanised sheets and PPGL is made from aluminum-zinc coated sheets. The layer below the top coat is a 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy Coating, which is 43% zinc and 1.6% silicon. The corrosion rate at edges and scratches drops significantly with the increasing aluminium content. The service life is more than double that of the conventional galvanised sheets in the coastal environment with salty air and high humidity. The biggest worry of our customers when loading goods in 20 foot containers is that the corners of the planks will start to rust when they arrive at the port. The aluminum-zinc coated substrates are stable at this stage.

This top coat is more than just paint. Standard factories and agricultural businesses use a PE (Polyester) Paint System. For weather resistance and HDP (High-Durability Polyester) Paint System use an SMP (Silicone-Modified Polyester) Paint System. For coastal projects a PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) Paint System is applied directly. It is resistant to even the strongest UV radiation. The Dry Film Thickness is based on the respective market specifications: South American customers usually prefer 15/7 micrometres, Philippine customers 20/8 micrometres, and for particularly demanding customers, 25/15 micrometres. The back side is painted 5-7 microns for protection against condensation. We also supply coated films and underlayment to customers in Brazil.

Color-coated roofing sheet

Tiles come in many varieties. Standard Corrugated Roof Sheets are 800 mm wide and 1.8 m to 6 m long. In Peru and Bolivia they are sold in roll widths of 914 mm with an effective width of 0.81 m. In Colombia, the most preferred button-shaped tiles are 0.8 metres wide. TR5/TR6 Trapezoidal Profile Trapezoidal Roof Sheets are ideal for steep pitches and rapid drainage. Historic architecture can also be constructed with glazed or Spanish tiles.

Aplicações

The material is mainly used for large surfaces such as roofs and outer walls. Corrugated Roof Sheets can be installed quickly and overlapped for large spans in factory buildings to save material. Uniform and consistent colours are suitable for residential buildings and retail spaces and red, blue and white are the most commonly used. The paint finish is weather resistant and the 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy Coating is corrosion resistant, which are advantages for greenhouses as seasonal renovations are not needed.

Flow of process.

The process is not complex, but each step must be taken with utmost precision. Galvalume Steel Coils are fed into machines that change rollers depending on the type of tile, Roll Forming to extrude corrugated or trapezoidal profiles, Cut-to-Length as desired, palletise and package. All the process steps, from Coil Coating to forming, are performed in our in-house production line so that the quality of all furnace steels is always consistent. This avoids incompatibility of batches to be mixed together. Drilling, edge folding and the production of locking joints are post-processing steps that are made upon request before ordering.

packaging and delivery.

All the exports are by sea freight. The finished plates are mounted separately, and on the bottom are fitted with wooden or steel supports to keep them off the ground. The whole stack is then wrapped in plastic sheeting to prevent moisture and corner damage and strapped with steel. For shipments to the Philippines and Peru, 20ft containers are normally used. We already have stacking plans which will determine how many metric tons can be loaded into a container and how to stack the panels so they won’t be damaged. Common questions.

What is the difference between PPGL and PPGI roofing panels (Prepainted Galvanised Steel)?

What is different is the substrate material. PPGI is galvanised steel sheets. PPGL is aluminum-galvanized steel sheets. Aluminium content is higher, so corrosion is slower and service life is longer in the same environment. PPGL costs a little more than PPGI but has a better cost benefit over product lifetime. PPGL is the best choice in coastal areas and areas with high humidity.

Should I choose PE or PVDF for the top coat?

For general industrial buildings PE (Polyester) Paint System is cost effective and sufficient and holds its colour for 5-10 years. The difference between an HDP (High-Durability Polyester) Paint System and a PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) Paint System in coastal regions, chemical plants and high UV areas is 1-2 weather resistance levels. If your budget allows, go for PVDF and do the correct cost calculations – you’ll save money.

Are you making sizes for our local market?

Yup. We have pre-manufactured machine frames for 914 mm and 1219 mm roll widths in the Philippines, 0.81 m effective width plus 3.6 m length in Peru, and 0.8 m wide women’s buttons in Colombia. Cut-to-Length is available in any length from 1.8 m to 6 m and no additional charges apply for fixed lengths.

Can the colour be made to match a sample?

Yes. We use a RAL Colour Card for our standard product line. Custom colours taken from your colour palette. The colour variations are then controlled within the standard range before mass production is started. For larger quantities, batches can be locked to avoid colour variations.

What is the minimum order quantity? What if the MOQ is too high?

The minimum order quantity is normally 10 metric tons, approximately the size of a 20-foot container. We also can change the amount per container as you wish. The first cooperation is no burden to our stock and we adapt the production volume to your real needs.

What are the options for coating and layer thickness?

The standard Dry Film Thickness in the South American market is 15/7 microns, in the Philippines it is preferred 20/8 microns and in high demand markets it is common 25/15 microns. This is usually standard for our Brazilian customers and protects the surface finish from damage during transport and use. You can send us a description of your application if you have any question. What is the delivery lead time?

Delivery will be effected within 25-30 business days from the receipt of a down payment of 20-30 percent, according to the specifications and schedule. Orders with film and special RAL colours may take a few extra days to be delivered. So please advise us of any urgent orders in advance.

How do you make sure the goods come in one piece?

Each stack of panels is fitted with corner protectors and wrapped in plastic sheeting to prevent moisture. The wooden or steel supports underneath are lifted off the ground. Once they arrive at the port they are inspected according to the packing list. If transport damage does occur, please take photos and file a damage report. We will be glad to help you to fix the problem.
