ASTM A792 Galvalume steel coil is the American route to a 55% aluminium-zinc coating. BOMIS supplies it in AZ150 with an anti-fingerprint finish, from AZ30 to AZ200 g/m², 600 to 1250 mm wide, and quotes each coil against the designation your drawing names.
A792 splits the grade by what the part has to do, not by coating weight. Commercial steel covers bending and light forming, forming steel takes a fold, DDS and EDDS take deep draws, and the structural and HSLAS designations carry minimum yield values that a drawing check can use. Naming the wrong one is the most common enquiry error, so we confirm the designation against your drawing before anything is rolled.
The coating is the other half of the specification. Aluminium forms a barrier oxide while zinc protects cut edges, which is where corrosion starts on a roofing sheet. The anti-fingerprint layer matters more than it sounds: without it, coils pick up handling marks during slitting, and those marks show through on light-coloured finished parts.

Where salt spray, humidity or reflected heat sets the maintenance interval, A792 Galvalume is usually the cheaper decision across a service life. Roofing and cladding take most of it, and the rest splits between prefabricated buildings, solar mounting and agricultural sheds. Coating weight sets how long it lasts, and the grade sets how easily it forms.
Coils run on our own galvanising line, so the coating weight follows your corrosion target. We slit to press width or cut to sheet size in house, and lead time runs about three weeks for standard specifications. Tell us the designation at enquiry stage, since SS and HSLAS need to be ordered against the mechanical values rather than the coating.
Coils ship with the mill certificate and edge protectors on both ends. Standard sea packing is waterproof kraft paper under a galvanised steel jacket, steel strapped, which holds through a forty day crossing without edge rust. Eye to the sky or eye to the wall, your call.
Name the forming operation first. Bending and roll forming take CS or FS, a drawn part needs DDS or EDDS, and anything load-bearing needs SS or HSLAS.
For most roofing, yes. Choose AZ200 where the building sits near the coast, and drop to AZ100 or lower for indoor work.
The coatings are similar, the designation systems are not. A792 grades by end use, EN 10346 grades by drawing depth, so the two cannot be swapped without checking each mechanical value.
Yes. Every coil leaves with its mill test certificate, and we confirm which document you need before production starts.
16 metric tons per specification, and about three weeks for standard specifications.
Yes. Sheet is cut in house to your length and bundled separately, so it travels in the same container as the coil.
